Dance With the Wind

“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair”

- Kahlil Gibran

Sometimes we must let go; give in to the pull. We do not always find ourselves where we thought. But this doesn't mean we are on the wrong path. The universe has a funny way of taking our lives to a place we had never imagined.

My sister has been living with us for the past 5 months. Its been an experiment of sorts; trying on life in Portland as well as a search for her own self. About a week ago she decided it was time for her to move on. While she loved it here with us, she had unfinished business in the town she lived in before.

So yesterday we said our goodbyes. Our separation is only temporary but the departure was still felt with heavy hearts. Her help in raising my son has been invaluable. There is just no comparison to having someone who truly loves your child present, day in and day out. Someone to help buffer the tension when the day is feeling long and Ben is still two hours from being home.

Its been a long time since I've had family and a best friend within arms length . Now being a mother, that close proximity has been quite profound on our lives.

She has her own life to take care of now. I will be eternally grateful to her for taking care of us these past few months. I hope that one day we will find a place we can all call home together again.

Your presence, love, and friendship in our daily lives will not go unnoticed.

Go dance with the wind, sister dear. I hope it takes you where you need to be.
